Riverside is a premium licensed stallion who arrived in Australia in September 2008. He was purchased from Hengststation Pape in Germany July 2008, however needed to complete his stud duties in Germany before leaving for Australia. Riverside was licensed in 2003 achieving top scores in dressage and high values in show jumping. He achieved an overall score of 133.8 with an outstanding dressage index of 138.5pts. To put this in perspective, his overall index is higher than many highly regarded stallions such as Alabaster, Brentano II, Londondary, Lord Sinclair, Pommery and Wolkentanz just to name a few!
Riverside connects the breeding lines of Rubinstein and Donnerhall, arguably the two most successful international dressage stallions when combined. Riverside’s mother, St.Pr.St. Desiree is full sister to the stallion Donnerschlag, his grandmother Pirola is full sister to the sires Pik Bube I + II. Out of Pirola, three horses competed successfully in dressage at an advanced level. She has produced 3 licensed sons and several state prime mares.
Riverside’s athletic career is extremely successful. In 2006 he was a was finalist of the World Championships for young dressage horses in Verden. He was the most highly qualified horse with a score of 9,0 for the Federal Championships (Bundeschampionat) in Warendorf. His particular talent for collection is evident in his talent for higher level movements.
Riverside has produced premium foals and top quality riding horses in Germany for example, his son Rodrigo (Riverside, Hohenstein, Davignon I) who sold at the Elite Auction in Verden in 2007 for a price of €200,000.
In Australia, he has produced not only champion foals but is making an impact in botht he dressage and eventing worlds. The beautiful Jembrae Rattle N Hum is a testament to the trainability of Riverside having a very sucessful first year competing in Australia before being exported to New Zealand where he continues to share his sucess with his owners. A true breeder of type and temperament, Riverside continues to stamp his progeny with that trainable attitude that we are all looking for in our riding horses. Not only is Riverside a producer of quality and competitive dressage horses but he also shows scope in jumping and some of his progeny are now sucessful in eventing.
Ask any owner of a Riverside progeny and the first thing that will happen is they will smile.
