In 1992 Werther was selected as the first stallion to be honoured with the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year title, which he earned by siring exceptional offspring in both dressage and jumping. Werther has the wonderful movement of Marcio xx through his dam and the strength, bone, and jumping ability of his sire Wendekreis. Right from the start Werther was a very popular stallion with a powerful impact. For breeding or sports Werther is one of the leading sires. His sons Watzertraum, Weibenberg, and Frappant are highly respected at Celle State Stud. His daughters also cause a stir at breeding shows. At Verden auctions his progeny were top priced horses and he has horses successfully competing in international shows in both dressage and jumping.

Sire of Werther, Wendekreis has two leading sires of show jumpers in his pedigree: Ferdinand and Domspatz. The offspring of these two stallions have been among the greats in German show jumping for many years. He sired Wembley, Well Done 1, Wendy and Papermoon. His offspring won far more than DM1,806,590.00.

He has 41 licensed sons. He sired more than 616 main studbook mares, 90 of them were awarded a state premium, including the DLG mares Weichsel and Wendessa. His sons Wagner, Wendelin, Wendenburg, Wendland 11, Wendulan and Wildfang made headlines as state-owned stallions. He has 41 licensed sons, 155 auction horses and 90 state premium mares.  Winning sum of progeny is Euro 1,478,174.00.
HLP 1976: 109.9/30
