Sire of Escudo 1, Espri, is a stallion of very special show jumping qualities. Another son, ET, ridden by Hugo Simon has won many international show jumping competitions and was a World Cup winner. Other top show jumpers are also sitting in the saddles of Espri descendants, including Lars Nieberg on Enrico, and Edgar, who won the World Breeding Championships for 7 year olds in Lanaken, Belgium in 1996. Dam is state premium mare Athene who also produced Escudo 11 who was Verden approvals champion in 1994, and the show jumper Erik, finalist in the Federal Championships of the German Riding Horse in 1996. The damsire Arkansas stems from the same line as the leading sire of show jumpers, Wanderer.
Champion of the 1994 Stallion Performance Test, Escudo 1 gained the highest jumping score. The phenomenal jumping ability was already discovered at the licensing in 1993, and after positive training and development, this black achieved in all other test criteria an evaluation also much above average. His is of outstanding type and expression, and well muscled. Escudo 1's ability was developed by Joachim Winter, enabling him to win show jumper horse competitions in series. In 1996 he was Hanoverian show jumping champion of the 5 yo at the Dobrock tournament and equal federal vice champion in Warendorf with the Holstein horse Levantos 11. In 1999 he was winner of several show jumping competitions at S level. Escudo himself managed the breakthrough into advanced class without a hitch, gaining numerous first placements.
Offspring of Escudo 1 are quite extraordinary with particularly good type and outstanding basic movements. His foals bring good money at auctions. He improves on his foals very much in riding type and in conformation. From his first crop Escudo 1 already presented 7 winning foals at regional foal shows. He has also presented numerous true to type candidates with strong movement for the Hanoverian foal auctions in Verden. In 1998 a daughter of his was the champion mare at the mare show in Schillerslage. Winning sum of progeny Euro 957,588.00. Celle now stands 5 of his licensed sons. Escudo 1 has 25 licensed sons, 83 state premium mares, and 164 auction horses. He is a tremendous improver in type conformation and jumping.
