The sire of Grand Cru, Grand Garcon was a Grand Prix show jumper under Gerd Wiltfang before retiring to stud. As a sire, his progeny are to be found in the fore front of both show jumping and dressage, a fact which has placed their sire in a front position in the FN breeding value ratings. With Gamon, Grand Garcon presented the federal champion six year old show jumper of 1995. His five state premium daughters include Grandiella. Grand Cru is bred out of a celebrated dam line. Athene also produced Walk on Top, German Riding Horse Champion and Swedish Olympic Dressage Team member. He is a stallion hard to be surpassed as regards character, presence and demeanour. He is clearly bequeathed with the eminent Trakehner charisma, and closely related to the stallions Admiral 1 & 11. He has wonderful rideability, his movements being enhanced with rhythm and cadence. Grand Cru is described as ‘good to excellent’ in the jumping category. He is a beautiful, large-framed stallion from the famous Grande line, and of very good type. Here is a lovely horse with great ability: an ingenious combination of Thoroughbred and old established Hanoverian lines.
First breeding in 1994. Grand Cru produces horses of substance, with the mind, movement, athletic ability and charm to go to the top. He passes on strong dressage tendencies, and his daughter Gina won the broodmare performance class at the Louis Wiegels Show in 1999. He has 8 licensed sons, 53 state premium mares, 216 main stud book mares, and 91 auction horses. He improves in his offspring for riding type, conformation, dressage ability and jumping. Winning sum of progeny is Euro 186,358.
