Carbid was Reserve Champion of his performance test in 1993 where he demonstrated good rideability and superb jumping. He is a strongly muscled stallion by the great jumping sire Calypso 11 and is out of a full sister to Grunstein. Carbid has the presence, correct conformation and gaits to become an important Hanoverian sire. He is a charming horse with terrific presence. He has good rideability and outstanding jumping ability with excellent manner and tremendous talent. He has superb basic paces with a particularly prominent canter. Carbid’s sire Calypso 11 was the first Holsteiner to be stood in the Hanoverian breeding area. He was much sought after by breeders from all parts and proved to be an outstanding sire of show jumpers.  From his approved sons Coriolan, Contender and Champ of Class are to be mentioned. Carbid, on his dam side, is related to the Grundstein stallions 1 and 11, who are very highly demanded stallions in the Hanoverian breed. Names like Grande, Sermon, and Gotthard are all there, giving this stallion a pedigree that will ensure strong performance offspring, especially in jumping.Grundlage as a 3 year old won some conformation classes and then was retired to stud. The female line produced approved stallions such as Aladin Z, Alme Star, Alpha D, Goldpilz, Illustro, Ramiro As, Wolf and many more. The great-grandam Gotengold was full sister to the top sire Goldberg who left good show jumpers.

His first breeding was in 1994 and his foals, born in 1995, totally met expectations. His progeny are characterised by excellent jumping abilities and a top rideability. One daughter was best mare of the show at Verden 1997. The mare Carmina Burana was winner of the Federal Mare Show in 1998 and winner of the Louis-Wiegels Show in 1999 and the Ratje-Niebuhr in 2000. Carbid has 6 licensed sons, 21 state premium mares, and 53 auction horses.
