Kalimna Warmblood Stud was established in 1988. We aim to breed Warmblood horses with the movement and temperaments required to excel in dressage. At the same time, these horses should be an elegant type that is pleasing to the eye and have sound conformation to ensure that they are to remain sound for a competitive life in sport. The bloodlines utilised are not limited to any one Warmblood organisation, i.e. not exclusively Hanoverian, Holsteiner, etc., but are at the forefront of their breed.
Quality and not quantity is our priority. Only a small band of approximately five broodmares are selected to be bred at any one time. Mares are upgraded continually as better females are produced with new bloodlines. These mares have been selected on their temperament, conformation, performance and bloodlines, all which are suited for dressage. The mares must be of acceptable height generally 16hh or greater in an endeavour to produce modern dressage sporthorses for current demand.
Similarly the stallions that have been selected also are those most suited for dressage. A strong emphasis has been placed on temperament, rideability, movement and performance in the sport. They also must be of an acceptable height, generally 16.2hh (168cm) or greater.
Progeny are for sale from weanlings up to riding age. The stud retains some stock to 3 year olds which are then broken in and campaigned prior to sale. All stock is registered with the AWHA Ltd, the oldest, largest and strictest Warmblood association in Australia. The AWHA is an "A" class member of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH).
