Future farms is a family affair now leading into its second generation of professional horsemen. Kate and Doyle Dertell have been hugely successful within the horse industry as the principals of Future Farms. Both nationally winning trainers in halter and performance events, Kate and Doyle have taken Future Farms to international recognition since its inception. Along with their success as trainers, it’s as breeders that have brought Future Farms to the fore front on many levels of performance horses and show horses. Future farms have bred national and international stars in the show ring, endurance world and dressage arenas.
Now the second generation – Jessica and Kody Dertell are starting right where their parents left off in the competition arenas, both winning nationally in in hand completions and saddle arenas as well as the endurance tracks! Jessica has shown her hand at mainly the performance horses being named as one of the youngest Australian National Dressage Team members ever, has been riding and competing Grand Prix level dressage since she was 15 years old, competes at National level with her team of open hacks and is an open book endurance rider competing nationally and internationally.
Kody has been a more rounded horseman showing great ability and touch with halter breaking weanlings and starting young saddle horses for their first rides. He has also had great success in the ring with national and international titles in in hand classes, national wins in ridden classes especially in the stock horse and western disciplines, and multiple royal wins in open hacking. Both Jessica and Kody Dertell look well set to continue the winning way of Future Farms into the second generation!
